About Dr. HidalgoEduardo Jose Hidalgo was born in Peru in the coastal town of Trujillo. From 7 years old, he woke up every morning at 4 am to sell the popular newspaper in the streets. In Lima, as a preteen, he lived in the houses of the well-heeled as servant. He labored on to support his family and invest in his future.
By his teenage years, Eduardo had become an excellent student. Never able to afford textbooks, he relied on the opening hours of public libraries. With four brothers in a one room apartment, Eduardo spent many nights outside under a street lamp studying his notes.
His studies earned him a coveted spot in Peru's finest medical school and university, the Faculty of Medicine "San Fernando" at the National University of San Marcos. Brothers Ulises and Jorge would proudly peek at him through the school windows. San Fernando graduated Eduardo at the top of his class. Learn more about Dr. Hidalgo's training.
